Cake Stories, Jesmond

I would never turn down the chance for a slice of cake and a cuppa. We had a mooch in Jesmond and decided to stop off at newly opened Cake Stories while in the area for refreshments.
We were impressed by the goodies on offer and struggled to choose. At present they are just selling ‘cakey goodness’, but the menu promises Breakfast, Lunch and Afternoon Teas are coming soon. The Cherry Bakewell cupcakes seemed to be very popular, and they were available to take-away at 4 for £8.
The interior is exposed brickwork and wooden furniture, with comfy seats in the window. There’s also an outside seating area, in anticipation for our delightful English Summer (fingers crossed!). Having just opened this week I was expecting it to be quiet, but it was really busy. It seems to be a hit with the students of Jesmond, and I overheard one girl saying how ‘quaint’ it was while we were drinking our tea.
Cake Stories has an impressive array of teas to try, but we settled on good old English Breakfast with our Red Velvet Cake and Oreo Cookie Cupcake. Both were delicious and moist. The grand total was £10.40, which was well worth it. Located not far from Dabbawal and open until 6pm, I anticipate big things in the future. We hope for an invite to try the Afternoon Tea!

The fresh teas are really lovely. I tried the cinnamon tea and was blown away by the flavour. They have their own blend of beans made for the coffee and I had a sneaky sip of this too – very nice. The staff were very friendly and my lemon cupcake very zesty. I am looking forward to going back.

Oh, the cinnamon sounds delicious! I know what to try next time as I’m always bamboozled by choice.
