Dog Friendly Newcastle

My friend and I are planning a brunch ‘date’ this weekend and had a long winded conversation about where we could visit in and around Newcastle that’s dog friendly with her beloved pooch. I thought others may have also struggled to think of places which serve up some decent grub too so wanted to share a few options. This is by no means a definitive list and I may add more in time, especially if KT becomes a regular feature in our jaunts!

City Tavern, Newcastle City Centre
The award winning City Tavern, established in 1923 in a historic Tudor façade building, was one of Newcastle’s most famous watering holes. I have featured on the blog twice already, and one I’m always keen to recommend on account of their vegan food offering. Of course, all dietary requirements are catered for and the menu is an array of proper pub grub. The fact pooches are allowed to accompany their human pals in is an added bonus of City Tavern, and you read about on of my previous visits here.

The Journey, New Bridge Street

A great little independent cafe in Newcastle city centre, serving up a good coffee and a menu featuring meat free food. Dogs are very welcome at The Journey, which makes it the perfect pit stop for a cuppa and a chin wag.

The Ship Inn, Ouseburn

A great pub serving up a plant based menu that seems to be winning over the staunchest meat eaters, The Ship in Ouseburn welcomes four legged friends of all persuasions! You can read our review of the Sunday lunches here

The Tyne Bar, Ouseburn

We’re big fans of the laid back atmosphere and the good value of the food at The Tyne Bar. Definitely the sort of place you can pop to for a pint with your four legged friend. Read more about the food on offer here.

The Brandling Villa, Gosforth

Famed for being dog friendly, The Brandling Villa will even serve your pooch a pint while you sup on yours! An independent boozer specialising in whiskies and craft beers, there’s also a menu with a huge selection of homemade burgers and live music nights. I’m looking forward to trying out the new vegan menu when its launched in January 2018.

The Town Wall, Nr Central Station

Well behaved children and dogs are welcome in The Town Wall until 7pm, which means it’s a great place to pop into on a leisurely weekend day for a drink and some food. Situated on Pink Lane directly opposite Central Station, it is within a 5 minute walk from most city centre locations.

Thanks for reading,
