The Green, Washington Village
Tucked away in Washington Village, not far from Cellini’s and Jayelle’s (who’ve both graced these pages), is a tiny florist/gift shop/tea room. The Green may have limited tables and space, but it makes up for that negative with bags of charm. The florist was busy working on beautiful bouquets as Valentine’s was just around the corner.
Jnr and I popped in for a quick bite while in the area. £4.50 bought us a Cheese Toastie, soft drink and a slice of Banoffee & Ginger Cake. Complete bargain. They very kindly gave me a pot of water so I could drink my own Raspberry Leaf tea, which I was forced to do as the Canny Baby was being shy in making her appearance. The Green stock locally roasted Goldbox coffee, as well as many loose leaf teas to sup from the vintage crockery. All the food is homemade, including the delicious looking quiches and scones. The perfect place for a cream tea.
The tea room was busy when we visited and you can understand why. Great prices and a warm, friendly welcome mean we’ll definitely return. Due to the size of the establishment the menu is limited, but don’t let that deter you. The cakes are fantastic!
