Darlington Food Festival 2016

Family Day Trip Idea

22 Mar

imageA North East food festival is to return to the streets of Darlington for a third year running. Distinctly Delicious – Darlington Festival of Food will take place on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th May this year, with preparations for the event already well underway.

Stalls in the Producers Market have almost sold out with over two months to go until the event, while the popular Street Food market is also already over-subscribed.

imageWe visited last year’s event and posted about our experience, which you can read here. We were impressed with the Street Food market especially, with many locals such as La Petite Creperie involved. One of our favourite stalls sold incredible churros, so we’re hoping for a repeat when we revisit!

“Our first and second festivals were so popular, we definitely had to bring it back for a third consecutive year,” said Alex Hirst, BID Manager for Distinct Darlington.

“Our food festival has become a massive success and we are very proud to be able to showcase the high quality products that Darlington and the surrounding area has to offer.”

The festival will feature demonstrations from chefs from leading North East venues, along with artisan food tastings and drop-in cooking workshops. Organisers will also build on the success of the famous crowd-pleasing centrepiece event; The Locomotion Cake Parade, which recreates the journey of Stephenson’s famous train through Darlington in cake.

Thanks for the comment! I hope more people visit this event, although Darlington is a trek for some. We have a great selection of events coming up over the summer so we’re quite spoilt 🙂
