After much maligning of Costa regarding their vegan options it seems the company has finally cottoned on to plant power. Today (6th Sept) the high street coffee chain has welcomed a new vegan sweet treat to its stores. Its Sticky Toffee and Pecan Cookie is aimed at taking some of the market share away from Pret after they successfully launched a Chocolate Cookie earlier in the year. But which one is best?
You can read about what we thought of Pret’s first foray here. Retailing at £1.45, their rich cookie has been a huge hit.
With a gooey chocolate centre the Pret cookie was became a bit much for me after a couple of mouthfuls, while the new Costa cookie was less sickly. I found it drier, although the toffee centre on this biscuit helped with that.
The cookie from Costa is a lot softer than its Pret rival and has a bit more of a ‘chew’ to it.
I personally prefer the decadence of Pret’s Dark Chocolate cookie over Costa’s new release, although I will definitely buy one next time I’m in for a Hot Chocolate. Costa have also released a new Thai Red Curry Pot which is SFV as part of their new Autumn range. If I happen to find it – my local store was bereft when I visited – I will report back on taste, value for money, etc.
