I have many Christmas traditions, and one of them is a visit to Fenwick’s window followed by an amble round the Christmas Continental Market. This annual event, located round the base of Grey’s Monument, is the perfect opportunity to pick up some festive goodies. While it isn’t as extensive as the ones I’ve previously visited in Manchester, Nottingham or Edinburgh, for example, it still holds a unique charm. It’s also great for a foodie like me to sample culinary delights from the around the world. Open from 9am-8pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am until 4:30pm on a Sunday, catch it while you can. It runs until the end of the month.

NB: On the 19th November the official switch on of Newcastle’s Christmas Lights happens. This will make the market feel even more festive on an evening.
