Heaton Road is a hive of gastronomical activity with so many cafes dotted along both sides of the street. We have featured Wild Trapeze’s breakfast, and now it is the turn of The Funky Duck to get the Canny Food treatment!
We were in the mood for meat when we visited, and decided to sample the burgers instead of the plentiful breakfast options on their menu.
The cafe was busy, but thankfully a kind couple allowed us to share their table so we didn’t have to sit at the breakfast bar. You may remember my thoughts on having to perch on a stool while eating at The River Bar, and they weren’t positive.
The food arrived quickly, and was served on wooden boards. Best mention that as I know how some people feel about it 😉
The Original burger I chose was very juicy, and Mr. Canny remarked that the sauce which topped the patty had a kick. I didn’t find it overpowering, but there was definitely some heat. It was definitely a thumbs up from me, and well worth the £7.25 charge. He opted for the BBQ burger, which was heaped with salad and jalapenos. We both chose fries, but seeing their wedges on other diners plates made me think next time we visit I’ll definitely chose them.
Funky Duck is a great place to visit for a weekend lunch, and we’ll definitely return. The food is great value for money and tasty. Get yourself down to try their Dirty Dogs!
