Vegan Friendly Beauty in Newcastle

Uncategorized

10 Nov

Yes, Canny Food is supposed to be all about food. But being vegan isn’t all about what we cram into our cakeholes. Nope, the vegan lifestyle also encompasses the stuff we slap on our faces and the clothes we wear. I spent a long time struggling with those conundrums more than I did working out which dairy-free choccie was my fave. Beauty can be more of a minefield than sneaky milk powder in a bag of crisps, let me tell you.

I’ve found a list of vegan-friendly hairdressers and beauticians here in Newcastle and the surrounding areas to help in this arena. I haven’t tried them all – I wish! – but many I have seen recommended on vegan walls, etc. I hope you find it useful. It will be updated if I discover more places as I go.

HandStand Nail Works, Swalwell

You can find out more about the services offered here. I have visited on a number of occasions for my nails and would highly recommend Leighann.

Y Salon, Newcastle

Vegan friendly hairdressing in Eldon Garden. For a list of prices check out their website here.

Aubergine Hair

91 Station Rd, Forest Hall, Newcastle upon Tyne NE12 8AQ

I have visited Aubergine for a root colour and find the prices reasonable and the staff friendly.

House of Holistic, Newcastle Quayside

You can find out more about Lyn’s salon and the services offered on her Facebook page here. I have been a regular client and highly recommend HoH.

Beautician Junkie @ The Junkyard

Massage and a range of other beauty treatments are on offer at Beautician Junkie in Whitley Bay.

Green Ginger Hairdressing, Newcastle

You can find out more on their Facebook page here.

Becca Rose Beauty, Hougton-le-Spring

Hair and beauty services are on offer at Becca Rose.

LimeHouse, Radisson Durham

Offering a spa experience in the centre of Durham using vegan-friendly products.

Tommyboo Hair, Newcastle

We were told that this city centre salon offers cruelty-free and vegan friendly Paul Mitchell products. It is worth mentioning that not all of the products used are SFV so mention you are vegan. Find out more on their Facebook page.

Thanks for reading,

Sadly the cure lab has now closed 🙁

It was my go to nail bar! But I found a lady called Melenka who works from Long Benton who does gel nails with The Gel Bottle which are all vegan friendly! 🙂
